As AI services become more popular, more fake apps and websites are posing as well-known AI tools. Their goals range from stealing login details and planting malware to taking over devices. Business owners eager to try AI need to be extra careful.
Signs of a fake AI app or website:
1. It is offered through links in ads, chain messages, or group chats rather than an official website or app store.
2. It promises free premium features or an unlimited version of a service that is actually paid.
3. It asks for excessive permissions, such as access to SMS, contacts, or full device control, that have nothing to do with what it does.
4. The developer name, spelling, or logo is slightly different from the real one, and the reviews look unnatural.
How to use AI apps safely:
1. Download only from the provider's official website or an official app store, and check the developer name.
2. Type the official website address into your browser yourself. Do not click links from unclear ads or messages.
3. Turn on two-step verification for your AI service accounts and business email.
4. Do not enter confidential company data, customer data, or passwords into AI services whose security you are unsure of.
5. Keep work devices updated with the latest system updates and an active antivirus.
6. Keep a list of approved AI apps for the office so employees do not install apps at random.
If you have already installed a suspicious app, remove it right away, change passwords for important accounts from another safe device, and check for unfamiliar login activity.
AI can be a big help to your business, as long as it comes from a trusted source. A little caution at the start can prevent big losses later.
